Abstract
Today, independence and progress are among the main priorities and most significant goals of political systems, forming the foundation of the intellectual framework of leaders and statesmen in all societies. Comprehensive progress is achieved through the provision of essential strategies with well-defined indicators. Political independence, as one of the fundamental pillars of any political system, plays a key role in achieving social, economic, and cultural development goals. In Ayatollah Khamenei’s intellectual framework, this concept is not only regarded as a fundamental principle but also emphasized as a prerequisite for development and advancement in various dimensions. This article examines the relationship between political independence and progress in Ayatollah Khamenei’s thought, answering the question of how political independence can lead to consolidated social and economic progress. Given the importance of explaining Ayatollah Khamenei’s views as the leader and guide of the political system, this study explores the relationship between political independence and progress from two perspectives: the relationship between political independence and the progress indicators of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the correlation between political dependency and backwardness. It also analyzes the concept of independence, its status, and its key characteristics through an explanatory approach. According to the findings of this study, the process of independence begins with political independence as the foundation, followed by economic independence, and ultimately culminates in cultural independence. Political independence also enables countries to make decisions free from foreign interference, thereby preserving their national identity and culture.
